(San Antonio, TX) February 4, 2019 – Today bulb Digital Portfolios announced they will be serving 17,000 secondary students in Irving ISD, TX with digital portfolios this year. bulb Digital Portfolios is an essential element in the district’s efforts to support the whole student and open up multiple pathways to success.
“Our district’s hope is that every student is college and career ready upon graduation. We offer numerous opportunities for our students to cultivate their talents and explore their passions,” said James Tiggeman, Coordinator of Digital Learning Coaches, Irving ISD. “Irving ISD truly believes there are multiple pathways to success for our diverse population. With a bulb digital portfolio, every student–no matter their ability, interest or learning style–has a chance to be successful in a way that’s meaningful to them.”
Students and educators at eight middle schools, four traditional high schools and one alternative high school will begin publishing their work on the popular digital portfolio platform, with two major goals in mind: to provide holistic learning support and create more avenues to success.
The school district will encourage students to publish not only academic-oriented work but collections dedicated to student passions and interests. Art, baking, heavy metal, automobiles–these are only a few areas the district anticipates students will explore in their digital portfolios.
“Every student possesses unique aptitudes, strengths and dreams. We give them a place where they can express themselves and tell their whole story in the context of what they are learning in school and beyond,” said Eric Goldreyer, Chief Executive Officer of bulb. “It’s thrilling to work with districts like Irving who are empowering students, giving them more opportunities to express their passions. When students create, share and show what they know, they build the skills needed for a lifetime of learning.”
The district’s additional auxiliary goals for working with bulb in the future include providing a space for students to develop a reflective practice, document their process, discover their passion and showcase their ability in a simple, beautiful and powerful way.
